4 players selected to play for England in the 2021 EYC held in Croatia

Draycott table tennis club has had 4 Players selected to play for England in the European youth championships (EYC) being played in Zagreb Croatia over the next two weeks.

With the covid restrictions in place the team has been split into the u19 team going out first and swopping over with the u15 team

Draycott has had two of the clubs top junior’s boys Naphong “Poww”  Boonyaprapa and Toby Ellis both selected to play for England in the u19  team consisting of 4 boys. Both boys are still only 16 with Poww playing in his second EYC having competed for England in the u15 event when the championships were last held two years ago.

The club also has both Connor Green and his twin sister Anna Green selected to play in the U15 events. Both are ranked no 1 in the country at U15 level and full deserve their selection.

This is the first time the club has had 4 players selected to play in the European Youth Championships and confirms their strength of players in the junior section of English table tennis.

The club’s founder and senior coach Jon Bayliss said “it’s a great honour and we are proud to have 4 of our players ( nearly 50 % of the squad) being selected by the Table Tennis England performance team to play for england. The dedication from the Players, Parents and club coaches is being rewarded and now that the covid restrictions are being lifted we will be able to get back to competing a full table tennis programme in September, with the club aiming to compete on the international stage more often- good luck to all the players selected to play in the  England teams in Croatia.
